BPI Energy Auditor Certification Exam
The BPI Energy Auditor Certification Exam is an advanced credential for professionals who conduct comprehensive residential energy audits and develop recommendations to improve a home’s energy efficiency, comfort, health, and safety. Energy Auditors are responsible for evaluating building performance, analyzing diagnostic test results, identifying energy-saving opportunities, and developing work scopes based on building science principles.
The exam assesses knowledge and skills related to building science, diagnostic testing, blower door operation, combustion safety, insulation and air sealing strategies, ventilation, energy modeling, data collection, and whole-house performance analysis.
The Energy Auditor certification is ideal for experienced energy auditors, home performance professionals, weatherization staff, utility program personnel, and contractors seeking to demonstrate a high level of competency in residential building performance.
ANSI-Accredited Certification
The BPI Energy Auditor certification is an ANSI-accredited certification, providing independent verification that certified professionals meet nationally recognized standards for competence in the field of residential energy auditing.
Testing Requirements
This certification exam must be proctored in person. Remote testing is not permitted. Candidates are required to complete the examination under the supervision of an approved proctor at an authorized testing location.
HVAC U will provide all required diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and materials needed to complete the practical examination. Candidates are not required to bring their own testing equipment unless specifically instructed otherwise.
