HVAC U is a national certification and training provider for building science and HVACR professionals based in Southeast Michigan.

We work with individual technicians, contracting businesses, utility companies, and workforce development organizations across the country, delivering in-person and virtual expert-led instruction that translates directly to better performance in the field.

Our training catalog covers building science, BPI certification, HVACR, DOE Energy Skilled courses, ACCA, measureQuick, power engineering, licensing prep, and more.

We also operate as Building Scientists, a sister brand we created to better reflect our focus on whole-building performance and building science training. Same organization, same team, same standard of instruction.

HVAC U was built by Brynn Cooksey: IREC Certified Master Trainer and one of ESCO Institute’s Top 25 Most Influential HVACR Instructors in the country. Brynn didn’t build HVAC U in a classroom; he built it from two decades of real contracting experience.

Credentialed Instructors

Skilled trades are growing. HVAC and building science professionals will need credentials to stand out.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment growth rates ranging from 4 to 60 percent across skilled trades through 2033, far outpacing the national average. For HVAC technicians alone, that’s 8 percent growth and roughly 40,000 new openings every year for the next decade.

The demand is real, HVAC U is here to help as many industry professionals as we can to take their careers and skill sets to the next level.
